DETROIT BEER COMPANY

1529 Broadway Detroit, MI 48226 (313) 962-1529
Detroit Beer Co.

After a six-month hiatus (thanks COVID), Detroit Beer CO. has reopened their doors. Brewing beer since 2003, they've been a staple in the Detroit craft beer scene ever since.

There are two floors for your beer consumption. The second floor can be rented out for private events. The upstairs windows offer a view of Broadway, Michigan Opera Theatre - Detroit Opera House, and the Detroit People Mover

As of today, there are 4 beers brewed in house, with 4 guests taps. For those non beer drinkers (boooooo) they serve Michigan made cider, cocktails, and a seltzer that will go unnamed.

Choose to go with three big pours…

1) Detroit Dwarf Altbier 6%, this is a D.B.C. flagship. Has always been one of my go-to’s while sipping beer in Detroit.

2) Local 1529 IPA 6.7%. Loved this beer. Calling it HOPPY doesn’t do it justice. Mixed very well with the citrus flavors.

3) Beer League Chew Belgian IPA 7.1%, this is more of a hazy IPA with all the bubblegum flavor you want.

Their fourth beer is Broadway Light Ale, coming in at a crushable 4%. Any of these beers will pair well with the food menu.

Detroit Beer CO started pouring again April 1st. Just in time for opening day. After having to dump 1000’s of gallons of delicious beer last year (again, thanks COVID), they ramped up the brewing system last month. As Spring then Summer comes, you’ll start to see more options for their beer on tap.

On the nicer days you can grab a seat outside on the small patio. Didn't get your fill of beer while here? They offer 16oz cans in singles or 4-packs to go.

Detroit Beer CO has always been a favorite of mine before or after a game downtown. It's a very short walk to Comerica Park or Ford Field, and just ½ mile to Little Caesars Arena.

If you’re one that’s not too familiar with the area, I like to park in either of the Z Parking Garage then take a quick stroll through The BELT. It's a great central parking spot for many activities downtown.

Don’t feel like walking??? Jump on one of the many scooters in the area. They'll get you around town a bit faster! Much more fun than hoofing it.

Detroit offers so many great stops for creating a brew tour. I paired my stop Sunday with a cold one from Traffic Jam & Snug. Kept it old school.

The list is endless… Eastern Market Brewing Co Lagerhaus #5 Batch Brewing Company Brew Detroit Motor City Brewing Works Atwater Brewery Brewery Faisan Founders Taproom - Detroit and Detroit’s newest addition Saucy Brew Works - Detroit.

Before heading down make sure to check out their hours. Right now, D.B.C. is open Thursday-Sunday. As restrictions loosen and capacity expands so will their hours.
