EASTERN MARKET BREWING CO.

2515 Riopelle, Detroit MI, 48207                                                            https://easternmarket.beer/#

It's time for some Detroit love. By far my favorite place on the map, and it's not even close!

Eastern Market is one of the most visited and diverse parts of Detroit. It has something for everyone. Along with all the fresh produce and flowers Eastern Market is known for you can do many other things. Like take a tour, both on foot and bike. Gather around a tailgate with a bunch of friends before the big game. Rent a loft. And now go have a freshly brewed beer. There's also many events Eastern Market hosts. Including the 9th Annual Detroit Fall Beer Festival. October 27th and 28th. See you there!

Friends we're just days away from adding another gem to the already long list of great breweries and taprooms this city has to offer. Eastern Market Brewing Co. will soon be on top of that list. It's been a long time coming for a brewery to open here.

What do you do with an old meat packing plant? Turn it into a place that serves cold brew of course! To me that's the best part of witnessing Detroit's comeback. Seeing it's history used as part of the next chapter. This is exactly what the guys at Eastern Market Brewing Co. are doing. Dayne, Devin, and Paul three of the partners were kind enough to give me a tour of the building. Showing me what was and what will be.

One of the biggest advantages of brewing beer in Eastern Market is the availability of fresh ingredients. They're literally right out the back door. Another is the access to amazing food. EMBC will have their own food truck. They're also food friendly. So grab a pizza from Supino Pizzeria or a sandwich from Stache International and head on over.

I was introduced to the Brewmaster Hazen while there. He's been brewing beer for many years. Working at Bells, Atwater, and Brew Detroit. Are you an Oberon lover? Well you can thank him. He's the brains behind the original recipe. With all that knowledge and years of brewing beer, I'm really looking forward to tasting what pours out of these tanks.

With their first floor seating right next to the tanks, EMBC is yet another brewery that makes you feel like you're part of the brewing process.

EMBC has big plans. They'll open with first floor German style seating. Check out the table legs. They're made of the old cooling coils that kept all the fresh meat cold. Again, making what's old new again. Soon to follow will be outdoor seating in the alley. Then an even larger second floor. With a cool little walkway overlooking the alley. Down the road they're hoping to open the roof top for some of the best views of Detroit's sky line.

This photo below is from the alley on the north side of the brewery. The walk way used to connect the two buildings. It's now blocked off on one side which will allow for windows, tables, and chairs. It'll overlook the alley and have a view into Shed 2.

I've been lucky enough to have tasted a couple of their beers. EMBC has done a few pop-up events giving the public a taste of what's to come. If you're going to Eastern Market After Dark on September 28th, make sure to walk by. You might just find yourself with one of their beers in hand.
