This was stop number 402 on my trek through every Michigan brewery. Last February this building was home to Castle Brewing. This February it’s under new ownership and now Hop Hog Backyard Brewpub. Definitely tasting a difference in the brew. Eleven beers on tap with three Seltzers. All made in house.
My eyes went directly to the Habanero Pilsner. Love beers with a little bit of heat. Unfortunately the keg had kicked. I guess I’ll just have to go back for a pour. Bummer!!! Instead I started with the Toasted Amber Lager 4.5%. A lite, flavorful beer. Great balance of malt and hops. Finished up with a flight of 4. Old Major Stout, Aromatic IPA, Belgian Pale Ale, and their Wheat Beer.
I really enjoyed each beer but as always some are a little bit better than others. In order I liked the Belgian Pale Ale, Toasted Amber Lager, Wheat Beer, Aromatic IPA, and Old Major Stout.
Packed house for the Grand Opening week! Well as packed as they’re allowed to be.
Food menu was mouth watering. Went with the Chicken Tenders and fries. They serve a large amount of food! And GOOD food. More than enough for this guy. Four choices of BBQ sauce. My favorite always being Carolina Mustard style and theirs is delicious.
Greenville is centrally located in Michigan. An easy add to any Grand Rapids brew trip, or traveling along 96 between Lansing and GR.
