HOCO Brew Co.

UBLY, Michigan anyone???? I’d never stopped until this past weekend. Had drove through, but that’s when I blinked.

Huron County, or HUCO Brew Co. for short, is a small brewery that makes big beers! Located near the cuticle in the thumb. HUCO Brew Co. had 6 beers on tap with a few house made wines and seltzer. I often say “this is why I LOVE my hobby”. Traveling from brewery to brewery. Both the big guys and small. Stopping by this brewery Saturday, those words rang true!

It’s that time of the year, so I started with their OCTOBERFEST 6.4%. I do love seasonal fall beers. This one didn’t disappoint. True to style, it had all the maltiness that I love with a little hop bitterness.

With the crisp 44 degree fall temps, an ALL AMERICAN STOUT 7.6% sounded perfect. Thick, dark, roasty… this kinda beer that goes hand in hand with October in Michigan.

Because of my love for Michigan made beer I’m not afraid to try anything from the menu. Most of the time bouncing from one style to another. That’s what I did with my third choice. Their BLUEBERRY KOLSCH 5.2% was my third selection. Lite, Crisp, & Clean, with blueberry sweetness. I was asked, “Would you like blueberries thrown in”? Um Yeah!!! It’s the adult version of marshmallows added to hot chocolate. They were hand-picked from a local farm in Minded City.

After doing a little pre-trip research and reading reviews most of what I read was their PIZZA is incredible. HUCO Brew Co. is located inside of Angelina’s Eatery. Along with the ZZA, the menu was quite large with many other options to choose from. I walked in predetermined what I was getting. Chose the 8”, topped with Italian sausage and black olives. Ranch on the side please.

I was also poured a sample of their Moscato. Just like the beer I was really impressed. So, if you’re not a beer lover… get here for the house made wines, seltzer, and of course the food!

Make sure that when you do visit HUCO Brew Co. you make a brew tour out of it. Add the other three stops in the thumb for a day of Michigan made beer drinking Lexington Brewing Company and Wine House Elk Street Brewery & Thumb Brewery.
