My top 376th Michigan brewery stop was River Saint Joe and definitely my favorite for a few reasons. #1 the beer of course. Six beers on tap, with cider and wine.
I had a pint of the “OAST PALE ALE” 6.2% and a flight of three others. “GOLDEN ALE” 4.5%, “FARMHOUSE PALE ALE” 6.5%, & “SUNSET SAISON” 7.4% All four beers were made with hops from Flatwater Farms LLC which River Saint Joe sits on. Each beer is 95% organic. Very clean and true to style. Like their menu says, “grown in the same soil under your feet”. A grain-to-glass brewery.
The beers all paired well with my Chicken Salad on a Pretzel bun. The rest of their food menu looked amazing. Many of the items made with farm to table ingredients.
Another big reason I LOVED this brewery is their beer garden. Spacious, open, & great views of their farm and hops. And this is no way a knock by any means, but unmanicured! The beer garden is lined with tall grass and wild flowers. Like I was sipping cold beer on my grandparent’s old farm. Relaxing to say the least! Sit around a fire at night, at a table in the sun like I did, or chose a covered picnic table. You can’t go wrong. Make sure you bring your 4-legged friends, as they are very dog friendly.
With one of the friendliest staffs I met all weekend! River Saint Joe is a new, big, unique brewery with a middle of nowhere feel. I cannot wait for my return visit.
