This past weekend I stopped by Michigan's newest brewery. Opened for less than a month, Bier's Inwood Brewery is a great stop. Located 6 miles south of downtown Charlevoix, right off 31.

Tyler and Anna Bier have their grand opening this weekend, July 20th & 21st. They plan on having live music along with a food truck on site. When I stopped in they were serving 8 beers along with Bier's dessert wine.

Tyler grew up here and worked at his parents art gallery. Also located on the same 5 acres as the brewery. He's a potter by trade and has been home brewing for 7 years. The brewery is three years in the making. They've turned the family home into this amazing piece of art. All new construction on the inside. You can see his and the families art work throughout the brewery. This photo with the taps is all tiled pottery. Each is a separate handmade piece. The owls were made by Tyler's mother. My blog doesn't do their work justice. You can apprciate it much better bellied up to the bar sipping a beer. The taps themselves are also encased in pieces Tyler made.

Tyler's beer was spot on. I started with the QUITTIN' TIME GRISETTE. At 4.2% this was a great session-able beer on a 90 degree day. One like the name says, would be great after a long days work. Or in my case drive. A true Belgian style beer with great malt flavor. My second pour was even better. WOBBLY POT IPA, Tyler says it's 7.5%, and that's very well hidden in this beer. Dry-hopped with 5 different hops, this IPA is a must have! It would be a tough choice between this and the Belgian Quad Sour from CraftHouse TC for best of the weekend. Hoping this is a staple of Bier's Inwood going forward. One beer I must have again!

The view east.

There's so much here to catch your eye. From the poured concrete bar that looks like a Petoskey Stone. To my favorite piece of art here, this amazing tree hanging outside the main entrance. Or the distant view west of Lake Michigan while you're relaxing in the front year. Cause that's what Bier's Inwood Brewery feels like. As though you've come to a family members home to say hi and you're handed a great beer. Grab one and walk around. They encourage you to get out and explore. Plenty of seats outside and in. Relax at these small tables on the patio and you have an amazing view east of northern Michigan's lush hardwoods. I can only imagine an evening sitting outside offers a great Michigan sunset. Just one of many reason I'll for sure be back!

Bier's plans on hand making all the mugs for their "Mug Club" on site. Which is something very few if any other breweries can claim. Also there will be handmade steins and growlers to purchase.

Anna and Tyler not only have just opened a new brewery, they've also recently started a family. So congrats to them on both! It was a pleasure talking and hoping to be back soon.
