Charlevoix is one of Mchigan's great tourist towns. I had just finished the Zoo de Mac bike ride, and my initial goal was to stop at Beards Brewing in Petoskey on way to Traverse City. Lucky for me it was still closed. I'd already visited Burnt Marshmallow Brewery a couple times and wanted to try something new. Lake Charlevoix Brewing was my next beer destination.

Small town so no matter where you park it's a minute or two walk anywhere. This brewery may have one of the nicest patios with one amazing view of Round Lake, and a distant view of Lake Charlevoix. There is money here and lots of it, mostly noticeable by the amazing homes and huge boats. The patio is large with a ton of seating for a great Michigan summer day. They also have Cornhole set in the middle of the patio. Which to me is a must for any great brewery!

I decided to sit inside today. Not having a hat to protect my delicate shaved head. First thing I noticed was the bright blue on most of the walls. One wall with an amazing mural of Lake Michigan. Kudos to the artist!  The bar top is a couple large sections ofa solid piece wood. Very cool looking. The one thing I didn't like were the bar stools. They're all aluminum. Uncomfy and cold on the back side, especially if you're wearing shorts. Which I was.  They have very colorful beer plaques which they use to show what's on tap. The plaques that are not on tap are being used to cover a lot of the interior walls. Adds to the color and uniqueness of this brewery.

I had just ate a large post ride meal that I brought with. I wish I hadn't! The menu looked amazing. All sorts of sandwiches and goodies to choose from. Decent prices, I'd say a $9-$10 average cost per meal. I'll make sure I'm hungry the next time I'm back.

The beers.... they had two tiers to choose from. Tier One, their flagship beers which are always on tap. Tier two, the rotating beers. I started with WIZARD SLEEVE 6.5% ABV, described as "Big Belgian yeast flavors, easy drinking mild beer with a sweet, banana, and pineapple flavor." A good beer for sure. Didn't knock me off my "aluminum stool" but good non the less. I gave it a 3.5 rating. The sweet and the banana were noticeable for sure. My second choice was WHERE'S MIPA 5.9% ABV, "standard dry, vicious IPA with Michigan Citra, Mosaic, and Nugget hops with a hard, bitter conclusion." I enjoyed this beer as well. Was hoping for a little more bitterness but still hit the spot. I also gave this a 3.5 rating. Looking over the rest of the beer menu I didn't see anything above a 6.8%, which is the PINE RIVER PORTER. I always like to try the stronger ABV beers. Just none to choose from here. Over all I was happy with the two I had. The beer prices here are great. Only $5 for each of my 16oz pours. They did have one Cidar on tap. Not theirs though, it's was Blake's GRIZZLY PEAR.

If you find yourself in Charlevoix, Lake Charlevoix Brewing is a must stop for a good beer and the amazing view they offer.
